There are 45,000 Verizon workers making a stand to fight to defend middle class jobs and stop company take-a-ways. Verizon is attacking their medical and pension plans, as well as going after

their job security and some of their paid holidays. These takebacks are similar (actually even worse) than what GE just got away with in Contract 2011.

Both CWA and IBEW workers are striking Verizon.

The CWA was not directly involved in our GE National Contract negotiations. The GE Contract settlement was negotiated by national leaders of the IUE-CWA and other CBC unions. The CWA’s main role in the GE negotiations was research and financial support for the pre-contract campaign and for strike benefits had the IUE-CWA voted to strike.

It is time to support our striking rank & file brothers and sisters of the CWA and IBEW who decided to take on these attacks. This is an important fight as it is against the growing corporate assault on working people’s standard of living.
