IN MEMORY OF ARTHUR L. WALLS
IUE-CWA LOCAL 201 TREASURER.jpg)
OCTOBER 8, 1944 – NOVEMBER 23, 2007
Arthur L. Walls, age 63 of Lynn, died on Friday Nov. 23
at Union Hospital after a very brief illness. He was the loving
husband of Carole A (Crowley) Walls.
Arthur had almost 30 years service with GE and was a member of
IUE-CWA Local 201 for his whole career. His last position with GE
was a Tool & Gauge Inspector in Bldg 76.
He previously worked in buildings 74, 40, 69, 42, GP and Bldg
63. He was a member of many Local 201 Contract Action Committees and
attended multiple union GE Contract rallies held across the country.
Arthur was elected Local 201 Treasurer on March 10, 1998 and
thus became a member of the Local 201 Policy Board. He served for 9
½ years in this capacity right up to the time of his death. His
election platform was to “work closely with the Business Agent and
Bookeeper to enhance the Treasurer’s role in continuing the
financial stability of Local 201.” Arthur carried out that
commitment to the membership, always guarding the Local from
wasteful spending.
Arthur was an honest Treasurer and Local 201 was very important
to him. He loved his wife and family, and was an active fun loving
guy always looking to do things with his family and many friends. He
will be sorely missed by his wife and family, as well as his “Local
201 Family”.
His fellow Officers, Board Members, Union Hall Staff Members,
and his co-workers in all the plants say “Good-Bye” to a dedicated
Local 201’er and dear friend. We shall never forget him and the
black bunting on the outside of the Union Hall shall remain there in
his memory throughout this holiday period.
